ArtsCarolina, Inc

Interactive Lighting Art/Early Stage Startup

ArtsCarolina began a number of years ago as a web design company. At the time web design was a sideline for me simply to support my art habit. While creating more traditional forms of art my day job as a web designer helped me get by and taught me the basics of programming.

Since graduating in 2010, I have worked mainly in interactive sculpture and have shown extensively on several continents. In November of 2015 I opened Interpolation Studio in Greensboro. I have worked on several projects over the last year and am just beginning to show them. With the creation of my latest project “Low Hanging Clouds” I have made the decision to embrace design and step out into the commercial world by miniaturizing the project into a table lamp with the same sunrise/sunset, day and nighttime functionality as the original project and introducing it through a Kickstarter campaign early this summer.    I intend to use the forum to expand ArtsCarolina, Inc. into a high tech lighting company featuring artwork based design.

“I am looking for more familiarity with the business world. While I have been a small business for quite some time now I have little experience with the manufacturing process and the actual business end of a larger startup. I am already seeing the benefit from the practical experience shared in the Triad Startup Lab.”
